Linda Grant is a novelist and journalist. She won the Orange Prize for Fiction in 2000 and the Lettre Ulysses Prize for Literary Reportage in 2006. She writes for the Guardian, Telegraph and Vogue. While I must confess that I'd not heard of the Brooker before I started reading your blog and had to Wiki it to really comprehend its importance - I understand what a feather in your cap this is!
I've been reading your blog for the past year and point to it often from mine - the quality of thought and writing I find here was apparent from day one. I’ve not had the pleasure of reading any of your books, but if you blog is any indication - this nomination is well deserved!

Perhaps it's time to replace that mugshot in The Guardian that is 12 years old, and doesn't do you justice. You're positively glowing in this latest pic.
If memory serves me correctly, Booker judges rather like debut novels, and more men than women have won.
Your evocative, poetic novel stayed with me long after I had finished reading it.
I hope the judges have found it similarly indelible.

I gather the Booker must be practically 2nd only to the Nobel Prize. Do we have something roughly comparable to the Booker over across the pond?
