Autumn and cashmere

It's Autumn, it's time to get back into your cashmere. I just ordered this from Pure. They have 10 per cent off everything if you click on the banner at the top of the page. And I get 8 per cent of your purchase, and that means I can buy more clothes and write about them. They ship internationally.

We've had this discussion before, I think Pure makes very good (if not the absolute tops) cashmere in a huge range of styles at a good price. I no longer buy cashmere anywhere else. What I like best are the colours, because they dye the yarn, not the garment.

Harry, your daughter is going back to a student flat soon in a cold rainy, city. . .

I did try a Pure cashmere cardigan from the summer sale last week. It was the leopard printed one, which was reduced by £100! But alas, I sent it back the day it arrived as the quality was really not good, and the print was really quite dreary.

Last winter a friend of mine bought the frilly edged cardie, in burnt orange. It was exquisite. But they don't seem to be doing that style this autumn.

So, so far my luck with Pure has not been good, but I'll try again soon when I really know what I need.

Sorry, forgot to ask, do you classify your purchase as investment or impulse? Given this morning's weather it's probably just plain old sensible!

Cashmere is always investment. As far as I'm concerned, if you live in Britain you can never have too much of the stuff. Working from home, in the winter I pretty much wear jeans and a cashmere sweater every single day.

Linda, I can't afford Pure but I've just been on M&S website and bought - "invested in"! - a hot pink V-necked cashmere for £49.50 (or 95, can't remember.) If I like it I will "invest in" the same one in teal. Lovely colours and I agree, if you work from home it's jeans and sweaters every day and a nice colour always makes me feel I''m going out somewhere.

I purchased several sweaters from Pure at Linda's recommendation and am highly pleased with the quality, esp. at the price, which would be 2x-3x as expensive elsewhere. The 4 ply cashmere is amazingly thick and soft.

I bought a simple plum cashmere jumper on your recommendation and it's the softest, richest coloured, most luscious cashmere I've ever worn. And only £85 (bought it in a sale). I work at home too and cashmere makes me feel luxurious but in an affordable way.

If you're prepared to hunt, go to TKMax on a weekday because they often have lovely cashmere gems stuffed among the jumper rails.

I agree with you regarding cashmere for working at home. Not only does it keep heating bills down but it stops me finding silly cleaning excuses, so I absolutely have to knuckle down to my writing. I also find wearing lipstick helps me concentrate when working at home too!

Well, as I also work from home, I think I NEED cashmere too! I love the colour in the pic.

My order arrived this morning - lovely grey pencil skirt, polo neck and a cardigan described as amber but definitely more green!
