Well, I don't presume to speak for all my countrymen, but I've been hoping that your blog would be a refuge from politics between now and November.
Perhaps we need a vote on this
I'm staying neutral in the blogosphere on politics...but as far as fashion goes in this election I'm willing to comment on political fashion.
I'm totally impressed with the way that Michelle Obama, Cindy McCain and Sarah Palin have been dressed.
But, as much as I admire Hillary Clinton for her political savvy and perserverance, her pumpkin colored pantsuit leaves me wondering why she would wear such an unattractive outfit.
Linds, you are one brave woman! We Americans are inacapable of rational discourse when it comes to poltics. God knows I can't do it.
I'd be willing to comment/read about political fashion too. But as for politics itself... There seems to be something about the very nature of partisanship these days that makes for pretty inflamed/enraged/impassioned debates on the internet, and it's usually a little unpleasant.
In the interests of disclosure, I work for a centre-right political party in NZ and we are in the middle of our national campaign too - our election will probably be held the week after, or the week of, the american one.
I get enough about how bad/evil/stupid/crazy people on all sides of the political spectrum are during my usual work, I like that in thinking about clothes and fashion that stuff can be left behind.
And there's plenty to talk about with regard to political fashion!
The trouble with discussing anything controversial online is that it can pretty quickly turn nasty. People don't feel the same need to rein themselves in as they would if they could physically see the person they're disagreeing with and it's so easy to type an insulting phrase which you probably never would dream of actually giving voice to. I vote leave politics out of this blog, but political fashion, definitely!
I'm with Susan on this. Politics is everywhere I turn and has been for a year. I need a break!
