Robert Clergerie

not the ones I bought

I finally broke down yesterday and went to the Robert Clergerie shop on Wimpole Street, at the top of St Christopher's Place. Top Baby Lia's mother, Ruth, was quite right, they're fantastic, the best shoes for wide feet. And very expensive, but what can you do?

To go into a shop and say, what lovely shoes, can I try these, and they say yes, and yes we have them in your size, and yes, look they fit, and yes, they are comfortable, and yes, I can walk in them and as Molly Bloom would say, yes yes yes yes, and so it's over to the cash register and out with the Amex and yes.

Sigh. When fashion, wide feet, and comfort come together, it costs..yes, it does. But having feet that hurt is no fun.

Fashion, comfort, and narrow feet are no day at the beach, either, LOL!

Pretty!

Manolo would love these!

anon #4 - at an 8.5 AAA, I wholeheartedly agree. It's especially difficult to find shoes when you don't much care for Donald Pliner.

Had a peek at the website - loved the violet version of the one you've got a piccy of. But what's with those shoes with 2 heels - one under the arch of the foot as well as the normal one at the heel? Don't they HURT?

Most of the shoes in the shop have sensible heels and are very comfortable, particularly the wedges.

Or commission Badaude - her drawings are wonderful - though you'd have to either send her a photo or pack her off to the Robert Clergerie outlets in Paris. Wonder if they are cheaper?

I don't own a camera either but that is because I also do sketches of everything.

I couldn't agree more about Clergeries--they're the most expensive shoes I've ever bought, and they're worth every single red cent (from a fellow wide-pawed lass). In the u.s. at least, some styles are marked down about 50% at a site called 6pm-dot-com; yoox has some styles sometimes, too.
