How hilarious. Only ten minutes ago we were talking about this film and how wonderful Jack Lemmon is; & this is the first thing I've seen since coming downstairs!

I think I sort of prefer Billy Wilder to Deuteronomy, though perhaps one oughtn't to say that n this holy weekend...

Well, at least according to the Jewish calendar it was Purim yesterday, involving a lot of fancy dress...

Not to forget the other fashion-related Biblical prescription: Leviticus 19: 19: Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind: thou shalt not sow thy field with mingled seed: neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woollen come upon thee.

I prefer Billy Wilder as well, I confess.

I love this movie, especially the not-really-accurate 1920's costumes. But then, the 20's were only 30 years prior when this film was made!

Hmm. Funny, yes, sometimes. But it's not played for comedy much, more for sex.

I doubt whether I am alone in thinking it works.
