About me
Linda Grant is a novelist and journalist. She won the Orange Prize for Fiction in 2000 and the Lettre Ulysses Prize for Literary Reportage in 2006. She writes for the Guardian, Telegraph and Vogue. Her latest novel, The Clothes on Their Backs was shortlisted for the 2008 Man Booker Prize. Clicking on the headline does not lead to an explanation of the title.
Could you please elucidate, Linda
I think it is the face veiling, but to my mind the model looks more like a bank robber with a stocking pulled over her face.
Perhaps it is also a reference to the ongoing controversy about the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, making statements favourable to certain aspects of sharia law for Muslims in the UK?
