One of my favorite childhood memories is seeing The Supremes at the Allentown (Pennsylvania) State Fair in 1967. I was just a wee lass then and a huge fan. I've still got the program!
And so hopeful. In the spirit of the Great Move North when so many African-Americans left latter-day serfdom in the US South for good-paying, unionised industrial jobs in Detroit.
(sorry, had to sneak in some social history. But clothes are part of social history too, an important part).
I second that emotion!
